ByteDance's 30-Second Video Gen vs. OpenAI's Sora: Comparing Two Approaches

I've been looking at the Seedance 2.5 technical report recently. Let's list some data first: single generation takes 30 seconds, frame rate is 24fps, supports 720p and 1080p resolutions, and inference speed is reportedly twice as fast as the previous generation. ByteDance has pushed the time window for video generation forward significantly—previously Runway Gen-2 maxed out at 16 seconds, Pika 1.0 was around 10 seconds, and while Sora demonstrated 60 seconds, it still hasn't opened public beta. The 30-second mark sits right in the middle ground between "short-video storytelling" and "long-video scenarios."
